Scuba Certification

There are many levels of Scuba certification. Bonaire is the perfect island to Scuba dive and get certified on.

Each new level will open a brave new world of underwater adventure as you become a more experienced and educated diver.

Your certification level depends on how much training you have received.

Each level has a series of training steps and a certain number of dives you have to complete before you get your “certification card”.

Each level has many lateral certifications you can earn, and each level takes you further into the exciting underwater world of Scuba Diving.

Bonaire, a little island in the Lesser Antilles section of the Caribbean known as "Diver's Paradise", has many dive shops and operators who are certified by PADI and by NAUI.

That means no matter which dive association certifications you have, you will find a shop familiar with your certification program.

PADI Scuba Courses

Here are some of the basic levels from beginner to master.

PADI, or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is an organization that offers classes, certifications and instruction to teach correct methods and safety to Scuba divers.

The first course in the PADI Scuba certification program is Open Water Certification

PADI Open Water Course

This course involves some “book work” or video watching, several tests, and learning the basic theory of scuba in a swimming pool before you go out to a body of water for you last couple classes.

After you have completed the Open Water Course the Advanced Water Open Diver Program is the next step.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

This course takes you the step above the Open Water Level and to more adventurous dive opportunities.

You must do five dives and can choose from the following list of dive types:

AWARE-fish identification, boat diving, deep diving, drift diving, night diving, underwater nature study, underwater photography, underwater videography and wreck diving (For a complete list see PADI.Com)

(Bonaire is the perfect place to complete these Scuba dive courses. Bonaire has clear water with high visibility, an abundant amount of fish-great for underwater photography...wrecks to dive and offers night diving all the time.)
