Who wouldn’t be hooked by the excitement you get from controlling the kite and allowing your body and board to be pulled over the waves and actually lifted off the water.

Lots of kitesurfers have found the little Dutch Caribbean island before you, and many will come after.

Because Bonaire has been building up a word of mouth reputation of being one of the best Caribbean islands for wind sports.

Staying on Bonaire
Staying on Bonaire is never a problem.
There are plenty of hotels, resorts, or hostels to stay in while your on the island.
Most of the resorts and hotels on Bonaire offer some great dive packages working with the the dive shops, and now some of them have some great kitesurfing packages for you to take advantage of.
Kitesurfing, like all extreme sports, can be dangerous.
The best way to avoid getting hurt is to learn the basics of any sport correctly and that means getting some instruction.

1. Kite flying intro
Learn how to launch and land
2. Intro (iko certification)
Learn to fly a powerkite in the water
3. Beginner (iko certification)
Go from kite flying in the water to up on the board
4. Independent (iko certification)
Here is where you learn to fly
IKO Certification
IKO is one form of kitesurfing certification, like PADI to scuba divers.
Make sure your instructor is IKO-certified to ensure your learning from the most highly trained standard in the industry.
Lessons usually last a total of up to 6 hours, and after that time you should be able to get on your board and launch your kite.
If you don’t own your own kiteboarding gear the shop your taking your lessons at should be able to rent you some, or you may decide to buy your own.
