I Am Going To Bonaire In Three Weeks
I am going to Bonaire in three weeks...want to come along? LOL...okay, chances are you aren't going to come on vacation with me, but that doesn't mean you can't plan a Bonaire vacation of your own. It is my favorite ABC Island...found way down in the Netherland Antilles section of the Caribbean. The people of Bonaire are friendly, the beaches are rocky, but beautiful and the water is unbelievalble. Clear, blue, just breathtaking. I am in love with this island.
What Are We Going To Do In Bonaire?
Let's back up...I am going to Bonaire with my son, his wife and my daughter...that's Jeff, Jenn and Krissy. These kids love to dive and Bonaire is called "Diver's Paradise"...it's the perfect place for scuba divers to vacation. You can shore dive, that's where you walk right off the beach and dive...no boats needed. Jeff likes to rent a vehicle that all the scuba gear will fit in. This way the kids can go diving any time they want.
I like to go with them and snorkel off the same beach they dive from. I also am in charge of the photos...except the underwater pictures. Jeff and Krissy take most of them.
Take a look at our Aruba pictures to see a little bit of that beautiful island. Aruba is also one of the ABC islands and it's a popular vacation destination, but I like Bonaire better. Bonaire is quieter and more restful than it's sister island, Aruba, where you can find more of the night life. So in Bonaire we are going to dive, snorkel, boat, swim and have a wonderful, relaxing Caribbean vacation. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living.
Car Rental In Bonaire
As soon as our plane lands at Flamingo Airport we are going to rent a car, well, a vehicle. My son, Jeff, likes to rent a truck or SUV so we can fit all our diving equipment in it. We always get pretty good rental rates through AVIS. Here's a box so you can check and see what vehicles are available when you go.
Here are the types of cars they have. See if the one you like is available.
The Daihatsu Charade or a similar sized car...it has 5 Doors, A/C and an automatic transmission for about 42.00 a day.
A Compact Toyota Yaris or similar vehicle is about $50.00 a day and has 4 doors, A/C and comes with manual transmission.
The Economy SUV is the Daihatsu Terios with a Hard Top... it costs $58.00 to rent for a day and has 4 doors, A/C and an automatic transmission.
The Pick Up Truck is a Toyota Hilux Double Cab and it costs about $48.00 to rent for a day. It has 4 doors, A/C and a manual transmission.
For more choices you can speak to AVIS through their web site or call them on the toll free number you can find at their site.
Our Flight To Bonaire
We are flying out on April 10th at just about midnight and we land in Kralendijk after 4 am. Yes, it's a little early, but it's nice to arrive early so you can take full advantage of the day. We leave the following Saturday, the 18th, so we want to make the most of the days we have since our vacation is only a week this time. You can find several airlines that fly into Kralendijk, Bonaire. We like Continental, so we fly them often. It's convenient for us and we like the hours the flights take off and land. To get the best rates why not compare these two wellknown travel sites.

Which Hotel In Bonaire
We always check the Bonaire Hotels Directory to see where we want to stay. This trip we thought about the Harbour Village Beach Club, , both are among the nicest hotels on the island, we stayed there last year. And then there is . They are great hotels and this time we have decided to stay at the Divi so we can get in a little casino action. We used to stay in the same hotel every visit to the island, but then I decided I wanted to try them all!
