From humble beginnings as a dive lodge to its current world status as an unequaled diving resort, Captain Don Stewart has built on his vision in offering scuba divers the unparalleled luxury of as much freedom as possible in founding Captain Don’s Habitat.

On Bari Reef which is considered the finest house reef in the Caribbean and sitting amongst tropical gardens and breathtaking views the resort offers luxury accommodations and dive/snorkel amenities year round.

Built on the tradition of conservation, where over 30 years ago Captain Don was instrumental in setting the stage for the Bonaire Marine Park, the resort continues to be involved with environmental groups and local government in protecting marine wildlife.

Considered one of the best facilities on Bonaire, Captain Don’s Habitat offers theatre style seating for 80 with modern audio and visual services including LCD projectors that can be connected to your laptop.

Accomodations

With six different room choices along with an ambiance of relaxation and island style each unit comes with daily maid and linen service, A/C, in room phones and cable TV.

2BR/2 BATH Bungalow

The Habitat has 16 units available, all with full kitchens, hair dryers and a large covered patio area. With each bedroom having its own bathroom, the bungalow provides sleeping accommodations for 4 people with comfort.

2BR/2 BATH Apartment

With 4 units available, the apartment comes equipped with a full kitchen, living/dining room and covered patio or balcony. Each bedroom offers its own bath.

Deluxe Ocean View

There are 24 available units with each offering a view of the Caribbean and freshwater pool. Each unit is equipped with 2 queen beds, desk, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, laptop safe, full bath, Wi-Fi capability and secluded balcony or patio. Villa Studio

The Habitat

There is only one of this type of unit available offering a full kitchen, bathroom, living/bedroom combination, ceiling fan and covered patio.

Villa Suite

With 4 units available, each comes with a full kitchen, living room, separate bedroom, ceiling fan, and covered patio.

Villa Ocean View

The Villa offers 11 units available and can be equipped with either 2 single beds or 1 double. Amenities include a dresser, chair, small refrigerator and bathroom with shower. Each room offers a breathtaking view of the ocean and Klein Bonaire and some units offer a balcony.

Dining

Rum Runners at Captain Don's Habitat serves as the main source of dining in the resort. As breakfast is widely buffet style, its array of fruits, breads and cereals are only a sampling, especially when you can have your eggs just how you like.

As lunch approaches, the restaurant offers a more deli style approach and as the sun sets, evenings provide such specials as the Monday BBQ, where you can eat all you want along with a menu that offers the “Catch of the Day” with your choice of Saffron Burred Blanc and Shrimp Brandy Sauce.

While breakfast and lunch don’t require reservations, they are recommended for dinner.

Also located in the resort is Pizza Temple which allows you to “create your own” pizza from a variety of toppings then bakes it in a stone oven.

The Deco Stop Bar

The Deco Stop Bar offers a chance to talk to locals or friends you have met during your stay about adventures experienced. With Bonaire’s stunning sunset, it is the perfect way to end the day as you watch divers come and go.

Hearing about diving from the best, Captain Don hosts a “Meet the Captain” party each Monday night to tell a tale of his diving experiences.

While the Bar offers special events during the year, each Monday and Thursday, you can listen to live music.

Dive Packages – Snorkel Packages

With Captain Don’s Habitat founded on the idea of Diving Freedom, it is no wonder it is the top facility on the island.

Being a PADI 5-star Instructor Development Center, a NAUI Dream Resort, SSI Referral facility and TDI/SDI Instruction Center the Habitat Dive Operation offers over 20 courses to meet your certification requirements.

With the resort’s Diving Freedom program, after meeting all requirements, you are free to dive 24/7.

The resort offers numerous dive packages and offers three 1-tank departures daily along, with scheduled boat night dives.

With over 70 moored sights, each buoy is allowed only one boat per site, means uncrowded sites as you scuba or snorkel from Capt Don’s custom built dive boats.

Along with boat diving, Captain Don’s Habitat has, on premises, shore diving for the beginner to the experienced.
